Wednesday September 7 2011 Smith Period 3

Hello everyone this is what we did today-

First we listened to announcements.

Homework is thesis and the outline for your introduction paragraph and your first body paragraph, and the outline is due on Monday, SAT exercises, phony faces blog, and blog Macbeth questions.  You also have a test on Friday for your SAT words lesson two; you need to study the words, the words definition, parts of speech and spelling!  There is also another test on Friday about Macbeth!

First body paragraph outline and thesis outline, you will need two quotes for Lord of the Flies and Macbeth, try your best to get Macbeth quotes for tour first body paragraph.  The more time you spend on your outline the easier and quicker it will be to do your essay.

In Macbeth you will notice that many characters will act one way but will really be very different, think about this as you do your faces blog for homework.

Then we did SAT questions which are due on Friday (here are some of the questions we discussed in class).

·         Number  seven exercise two-A baubles is a  useless thing like the little quarters things for candy and small toys

·         Number two Exercise 3 - potion then potable, 3- insomnia then sleep

·         Second to last bland on exercise one- chagrin

·          Exercise five(critical reading) number 3-the dam has broken twice

·         Exercise five(critical reading)- the tone is sober but heartening

·         Exercise one (fifth blank)- impediment

Then we did some Macbeth reading starting on scene 4 all the way through scene 7, you should be looking for reasons and quotes for you essay.

The thane of condor was entrusted with trust from the king, but the condor was disloyal to the king.

Discussion/summery for Scene 4-King Duncan appointed his eldest son to be the heir to the throne, Macbeth was unhappy about this.  So Macbeth needed to overcome the king and the kings son to become king.  Macbeth appears to be kind to the king, but Macbeth knows that he must maybe kill the king and his son to become king.

Discussion/summery for Scene 5- Lady Macbeth says that Macbeth is just too kind to kill the king.  Lady Macbeth thinks that she will need to help Macbeth overcome his kindness to kill the king so that Macbeth can be king.  Also lady Macbeth says that Macbeth may not be an open book, he needs to be very kind on the outside, but on the inside he needs to be a killer “a serpent” in the heart.  We said that lady Macbeth was kind of shady, because she is easily willing to betray the king.  Lady Macbeth also has a lack of morals, because the is turning good for evil.  It seems that lady Macbeth is controlling Macbeth.  It seems that lady Macbeth is the “puppet master”.  It also seems that Macbeth really wants to be evil.  To shange society we need to recognize the evil inside ourselves.

Discussion/summery for Scene 6- lady Macbeth is deceiving king Duncan at before Macbeth’s castle.  Also, king Duncan is only at the castle for one night so that lady Macbeth and Macbeth know that they have to take them out tonight.  Lady Macbeth really wants Macbeth to be king, but Macbeth doesn’t want to do this because he is very loyal.

Discussion/summery for Scene 7-Macbeth is cautious to kill the king because the king is appointed by god, so he is like betraying god.  Macbeth says that Duncan’s death will make Duncan an angle. Lady Macbeth is questioning Macbeth’s manhood.  This really gets to Macbeth, so now he wants to prove that he is a man. Lady Macbeth is so determined to kill the king, that she would kill her own child.

This is all we did today, we mainly did just a few SAT questions and then we read Macbeth. Here is the homework again!
