January 23, 2012 Smith 3
Hello everybody! Today we started class with the usual, “Hello Class,” replied by the, getting more enthusiastic everyday, “Hello Smith!” The announcements followed and Mrs. Smith recommends that we fill out the survey for which qualities we’d like in our next principle. After the announcements we did our grammar and since it was Monday we only did parts of speech. The first sentence went like…
hv prn av adv. cc av art. n N prep. n
can you come over and watch the movie casablanca after school
The next sentence was…
art. N N av N N prep art n
the chemistry club visited boulder colorado for an experiment
Once grammar was settled we got ready for our fishbowl over chapters 6-12. Mrs. Smith came around and checked our 3 questions for the section and then the discussion began. The day finished with the discussion.
- · Read chapters 13-14 in Little Brother. We have another fishbowl on Friday on chapters 13-17 so come ready with 2 questions.
- · CSAP packet “Words to Live By” is due Friday
1/23/11-Smith 5
The day started with the usual, "Hello Everybody!" with the reply of, "Hello Smith!" Today in Mrs. Smith's action packed class we first got out everybody's favorite purple packet for grammar. We had two sentences up on the board~ (Since today was Monday we did the parts of speech section)
hv prn av adv. cc av art. n N prep. n
can you come over and watch the movie casablanca after school
And the other sentence was...
art. N N av N N prep art n
the chemistry club visited boulder colorado for an experiment
After the awesome grammar was finished for today we got set up for fishbowl chapters 6 through 12 on Little Brother (the next fish bowl is on Friday so be ready!). We discussed many interesting topics about government controlling and how perspectives change over time along with the situation at hand. Sooner then we thought possible, the bell rang at 1:12pm and class was dismissed.- read Little Brother chapter 13 through 14. (Be done with chapters 13 throguh 17 by Friday for fishbowl as well as two higher level thinking questions!)
- CSAP packet "Words to Live By" due Friday

Scribe Period 5 (1-20-12)
Well class on Friday was somewhat the same,
We turned in our grammar sheet and CSAP packet (hope you didn’t forget your name!)
Following that, our grammar test we did take,
All of us silently hoping an error we did not make!
With the remaining class time we had,
We had to write a response to a quote that wasn’t that bad!
“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, do not deserve neither liberty nor safety" by Benjamin Franklin was the quote,
A well-constructed paragraph was what we all wrote!
After that our time in class was done,
Because the class was cut short for some fun!
With last two hours of school,
We had the Winter Formal Pep Assembly and got to watch teachers be a fool!
Hope your weekend has gone well,
And don’t forget your homework so at the fishbowl you may excel!
(Homework – Read chapters 6-12 of Little Brother and 3 higher-level thinking questions)

Smith Period 3 (January 20, 2012)
Hey guys! Happy Friday! We started with the usual "Hello Class" "Hello Smith" greeting, however ours was a little better and enthusiastic than it has been the past few days. After that we did our weekly grammar test and also handed in the grammar sheet (the piece of paper with the examples from Mrs. Smith that we had been working on the past week) as well as our CSAP packet.
After that everyone started to type a paragraph that was due at the end of class. The topic was to write a well constructed paragraph about the quote "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety do not deserve neither liberty nor safety" by Benjamin Franklin. We had to either refute or defend the quote and also practice how to write a CSAP paragraph.

Also, we briefly discussed the current events regarding SOPA and PIPA, two bills that, in short, well censor the internet. The hacker group "Anonymous" came up several times, since they are modern freedom fighters (much like hacker in Little Brother).
The homework for the weekend is to read chapters 11-12 in Little Brother, 1 question about it, and we should be done with chapters 6-12 by Monday (with 3 questions).
